Welcome to 417 Compost! By using our services or website, you agree to these terms and conditions. We are committed to providing a reliable and fun composting experience in Springfield, Missouri, and these guidelines help us ensure a sustainable future together.

Understanding our composting guidelines

417 Compost provides a professional, weekly organic waste collection service for residential and commercial customers in the Springfield, MO area. We are committed to reliability, community trust, and helping our neighbors reduce their environmental footprint.

  1. Acceptable materials: Yes: Fruits, vegetables, coffee grounds, eggshells, and staple-free tea bags. No: Please do not include meat, dairy, bones, fats, oils, pet waste, or plastic-lined "compostable" bags that are not BPI-certified.
  2. Pickup Guidelines: Curbside Readiness: Please place your bin at the curb by 7:00 AM on your scheduled pickup day. Bin Maintenance: We provide sanitized bins on a rotating basis. Please keep your lid tightly secured to prevent pests and odors. Safety Limits: Bins must not be overloaded. The lid must close securely to ensure the safety of our team.
  3. Subscription & Billing: Payments: All subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis. Cancellations: You may pause or cancel at any time. Please provide at least 7 days' notice before your next billing cycle to ensure changes take effect. Right to Refuse: We reserve the right to skip a pickup if the bin contains prohibited materials (contamination) or is inaccessible. We will leave a notification explaining the issue so it can be corrected for the next cycle.
  4. Weather & Holidays:  In the event of severe weather or holidays, we will notify you of any schedule changes via email or SMS.
  5. Community Participation:  By participating, you are directly contributing to local soil health in Springfield. Contamination significantly impacts our ability to process compost safely; please be mindful of what goes into your bin.

Your agreement upon sign-up

By signing up for 417 Compost services or using our website, you agree to the following important terms:

  • Acceptable materials:  Only organic food scraps are accepted (fruits, vegetables, coffee grounds, eggshells, and staple-free tea bags). Prohibited items include meat, dairy, bones, fats, oils, pet waste, and non-BPI-certified plastic-lined bags.
  • Pickup guidelines:  Bins must be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on the scheduled pickup day. Bins must be kept closed with a tight-fitting lid to prevent pests and odors, and they must not be overloaded or excessively heavy.
  • Subscription and billing:  Payments are processed on a recurring monthly or annual basis. Cancellations or pauses require at least 7 days' notice before the next billing cycle.
  • Service reliability and rights: 417 Compost reserves the right to skip a pickup if the bin contains prohibited materials or is inaccessible; in these cases, a notification will be left for the customer. Customers will be notified via email or SMS regarding schedule changes due to holidays or severe weather.
  • Community responsibility: By participating, customers contribute to local soil health and are expected to be mindful of contamination, as prohibited items can affect the quality of an entire batch of compost.

Resolving issues and ensuring satisfaction

We are dedicated to providing excellent service. If any issues arise, we handle them with the following approach:

  • Communications first:  We prioritize direct communication to resolve any issues. If you are dissatisfied with a service or encounter a problem, please contact us immediately at [Insert Contact Email/Phone Number] so we can address the concern directly.
  • Service resolution:  In the event of a missed pickup or service error, we will prioritize a timely make-up service or, at our discretion, provide an account credit for the affected service cycle.
  • Feedback & improvement:  We value transparency. If an issue arises due to contamination or bin access, we will leave a friendly notification explaining the situation, providing you with the opportunity to correct it for the next scheduled pickup.
  • Good faith:  As a community-focused, veteran-owned business, our goal is to maintain trust. We commit to working with our neighbors in good faith to find fair, equitable solutions to any disputes that may arise.
